Admissions

Admission Information for Parents and Carers – Acorns Primary School

All children who attend Acorns Primary School must have an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP). A place at our school is considered when the EHCP review (or a new EHCP assessment) shows that a special school would best meet your child’s needs.

The schools published admissions (PAN) is 10 puils per year.

As a Local Authority maintained Special School, we are governed by the admission arrangements laid down by Lancashire County Council, for both admission and oversubcriptions.

Any enquiries regarding this matter should be directed to Inclusions Team at Lancashire County Council.

You can contact the Inclusion team by email, Inclusion.South@Lancashire.gov.uk, or by telelpone 01772 531 597.

Visiting Acorns Primary School

You are welcome to arrange a Non‑Prejudicial Visit (NPV).  This visit gives you the chance to look around, meet staff, and decide whether Acorns feels like the right place for your child.

If a Place Is Offered

If the LA agrees to offer your child a place, they will contact you to confirm this.

After this, a member of our team will get in touch to:

  • Let you know that a place has been confirmed
  • Arrange transition visits, if needed
  • Provide you with an Information Pack (we may also arrange a home visit)
  • Share your child’s planned start date
